Celine Dion biography
The year 1980 brought Peter Luise Céline Dion to the agent and manager René Angélil, so they believed that he was her career starter (see also advertising). 1981 they released their first LP in their mother tongue French, La Voix du Bon Dieu (The Voice of God), which they in Quebec made into a star.
In October 1982, Céline Dion went to France at the World Popular Song Festival in Tokyo, for their home country of Canada. With the title Tellement jai damour pour toi won in the category of Best Song Award, and was also a wider audience outside Canada. 1983 was in France for the title Damour ou damitié as the first Canadian artist, a Gold Record.
1987 Celine Dion produced the album Incognito, the double-platinum in Canada and received worldwide 1.5 million copies sold. It was their most successful album until then.
Supported by the Swiss composer Atilla Şereftuğ and Nella Martinetti, Céline Dion sang for Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest 1988 in Dublin (Ireland). With the title Ne partez pas sans moi they occupied the first place with just one point ahead of the runners. This victory was a big boost for her career in Europe.
At the end of the 80s was Céline Dion in Canada and France already a well-known and successful singer. With 20 years they had been 14 albums (eleven albums in Canada and three in France), and a total of 15 Felix Awards, and three platinum and four gold records. In the United States, however, she knew hardly anyone. This was mainly because the only French-Canadian albums and had them in the United States usually no more attention. ...
